Traumatic Brain Injury risks are heightened for individuals who are involved in Sports or activities. Especially in sports such as football and rugby, where physical contact is required and a major focus, individuals’ risk for brain injuries increases considerably. Other factors that put athletes at risk are the potential to be struck by an object such as baseball, or falling such as in gymnastics. One of the best steps one can take before participating in sports and recreation activities to prevent Brain Injury is to educated the participants in proper form and procedure. Concussions, seem like a common term we hear when watching football or hockey, but these are indeed brain injuries and are very serious. Even with strict requirements for helmets and other protective attire, not all potential for traumatic brain injury is neutralized. By always making sure you are prepared and supervised when playing in competitive full contact sports, you can greatly reduce the risk of brain injuries.
